The Ordinary Moments

{The Ordinary Moments ’17} #10 Family Gathering’s

Today we have spend the afternoon at my in-laws with the family for a bit of a gathering to celebrate my husband’s birthday, which is on Tuesday.

Nate has been really suffering with teething this last week, so I was a little bit anxious as to how he would be – would he spend the whole time crying and not settle, would he nap, would he feed? I needn’t have worried as he fell asleep on the way there, had two feeds then another little sleep. It’s funny how him being out of his usual routine can make me a bit panicky. Even though I’ve done all this before, it feels different this time somehow.

We had a lovely day and the kids played nicely together for the most part, the food was delicious and we had lots of laughs. We sung happy birthday, complete with caterpillar cake and the kids took it in turns to blow the candles out. It was quite a simple day but I love it when we all get together and I can’t believe that this time next year, Nate will be toddling about and getting in on the action too. Today, he sat in his bouncy chair and watched from afar.

Jack and Holly are so good with my boys. They both dote on Nate and will play with Alfie really nicely. There’s only 3 years between Alfie and Holly so they tend to play the most, but Jack is so good with Alfie, really patient and caring and he’s just the same with Nate. I feel very lucky that they’ve got such lovely cousins to grow up with.
